An integrative approach to transformation

Offering the option of online therapy or meeting in person at my Baltimore office

Our specialties include but are not limited to the following:

Anxiety

Anxiety may take many different forms, such as chronic worry, panic attacks, phobias, or social anxiety. Symptoms of anxiety can be understood as physical manifestations of fear. Treatment involves understanding the issues that underlie the symptoms.

Depression

One of the most common reasons that people seek therapy, depression is often characterized by feelings of hopelessness and doubt. It is important to know that depression is highly treatable, and you are not alone.

Dissatisfaction

Chronic dissatisfaction or persistent low-grade depression pervades all aspects of life. Psychotherapy is a way to gain insight into your feelings in order to recognize patterns that have developed over time. With this newfound awareness, change is possible.

Abuse

Adults who were abused during childhood often have low self-esteem, tend to be more prone to psychiatric disorders, and have more problems in intimate relationships. In therapy, we work to understand how past experiences connect with present-day difficulties in order to foster pathways to a more fulfilling future.

Grief

Losing someone you love is one of the life’s greatest sorrows. Feelings of grief can be overwhelming and may be exacerbated by feelings of isolation by others’ discomfort with intense emotion. Psychotherapy may be particularly helpful in coping with emotions that seem unbearable.

Relationships

Everyone longs for connection and a sense of belonging, yet all too often we unintentionally distance ourselves from one another. This can result in feeling painfully separate, unappreciated, and lonely. Psychotherapy can help us recognize how we relate to others in order to deepen our relationships and foster a sense of belonging.

Parenting

There is a saying that a parent is only as happy as her least happy child. Having a child with anxiety or depression often affects the whole family. As parents, we all want the best for our children and parenting in the modern world comes with unique challenges. Parents of kids with learning differences or complex medical challenges often benefit from therapy to assist them in helping their children cope with emotions and navigate difficult times.

Food Allergies

Parents of young children with severe food allergies can feel overwhelmed and fearful about keeping their kids safe and staying vigilant everywhere they go – school, family gatherings, play dates, etc. As a parent of a child with life-threatening peanut and tree nut allergies, Dr. Provan personally understands the psychological impact and the need for support.
